CHALLENGE
How can technology help overcome "unwanted" isolation and loneliness (in cities)?
Due to the global pandemic that has confined the country, many people have faced loneliness.
Empty walls and houses are now their companions.
Therefore, as a challenge, we have been tasked with improving the user experience for those who
are completely isolated and lonely in their homes.
RESEARCH
After immersing myself in the project's objectives and issues, I conducted the Sprint Design
tasks. In this stage, I focused on understanding the problem and informing myself about it to
define what I wanted to achieve through my solution.
After reading and researching, I decided on the following goal:
"Create a digital product that changes/transforms the way people over 60 live in
solitude."
I chose older people as the target because they are the most affected according to the research
I read. Also, there are very few companies willing to create products for them.
IDEATION
After identifying the main insights of the problem during the research phase, it was time to make
decisions about the type of digital product I wanted to develop. For this, I collected various
ideas for products and functionalities and chose the ones that best addressed the user's pain
points.
- Shared TV with loved ones.
- Online games with family.
- Video calls to loved ones from the TV.
- Health tips.
INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE
Therefore, I decided that OXI would consist of 4 main core functionalities, which are:
Television, where the user can view the catalog of series and movies.
Calls, where the user will be able to talk to their family.
Entertainment, where the user can play various games with their contacts, such as karaoke
and even read news.
Health, where the user can watch exercise videos, healthy recipe tutorials, and more.
BRANDING
The next step was to give color and identity to the application.
I used a range of violet colors because it is a color that relaxes, brings tranquility, calmness, and self-control to people. Additionally, being a dark color, it prevents eye fatigue for users.

WIREFRAMES
I designed both low-fidelity and high-fidelity wireframes to prototype the application and conduct user testing.
1. Distant Cinema
With OXI, you can watch movies and series accompanied by your loved ones.
2. Be the Star of Your Living Room
Enjoy karaoke with your family and friends.
3. Calls and Video Calls
With OXI, you'll never feel alone. You can call your family and even talk to people in your neighborhood.
CONCLUSIONS
User Testing and Results
I selected 4 users to
test the product and obtain feedback on its functionality using Invision.
The feedback obtained was enriching and satisfactory. In general, the users who
participated in the test liked the idea of a TV that they could use to talk, play, or watch
movies with their loved ones and meet new people nearby.
Additionally, the testing helped identify pain points that could be improved in the future.
Users also provided various ideas that could be added to the product, such as sharing photos
with their contacts, posting recipes, and even crafting tutorials, among other things.
Based on the user feedback, the most important points for improvement were:
- Keeping the main menu visible on all screens.
- Including titles for movies, TV shows, and an option to search for songs in the karaoke
section.
